NRA Basic Pistol Course
Recommended prior to considering the Tennessee Handgun Permit Class
In this 8 hour Introductory Course, you will learn how to safely handle, and accurately fire handguns from our certified NRA instructors. You will be shown how to “work with the gun, not against the gun.” You will be exposed to courses of fire that will help you to better reinforce the Fundamentals of Marksmanship into your subconscious. You will learn the Cycle of Operation of the firearm, and why knowing this is so important. You will learn how to make the gun do what you want it to do, when you want it to, and have the desired outcome (hitting the target).
Instruction is in the classroom and on the firing range where you will learn about:
- Essential gun safety rules
- Different types of pistols and which one is best for you
- The basics of ammunition
- The fundamentals of pistol shooting
- Different shooting positions
- The most common shooting errors
- Proper gun cleaning and maintenance
- How to maintain your skills
Upon completion of the training you will receive a NRA Course Certificate of Training.
Once you have registered on our calendar please go to the NRA website and register there as well. You do not need to have a NRA membership to do this.
